Welcome to CPRE South West's web site. We are part of the Campaign to Protect Rural England, a national charity
(reg no 1089685).
Our main regional campaigns
The Regional Spatial Strategy (RSS), which the Government intended to publish this year (2009),
has been the main focus of our regional work in recent years. It will include housing allocations for individual districts for the next 20 years. We are now part of a wider alliance of groups and organisations pressing the Government to listen to our views. Click here to visit the Save Our Green Spaces Alliance website www.saveourgreenspaces.org . A standard letter that includes our three key ‘asks' - and that can be modified to add your own comments - can be found both there and on our national CPRE website at www.cpre.org.uk. Please help us by writing to the Minister, John Denham, to express your views .

Planning and Housing - We campaign for a more environmentally friendly and sustainable approach to development: lower levels of new housing overall ( with an increased proportion of affordable homes to meet local need); urban renaissance; and improved use of brown field land.
Energy and climate change - We campaign for regional strategy and policies that include energy conservation measures and guidance for renewables that will protect the South West's landscapes.
Transport and Tranquility - We campaign for a more sustainable approach to transport regionally. Our main focus is the Regional Transport Strategy (the Transport chapter of the RSS). It will inform the next round of Local Transport Plans in the South West.
See "Our Work" for full details of our submissions.
